Key responsibilities: The Head of Communications is part of the Communications Team and reports the Director of Communications & Brand. The Communications Team consists of: • Head of Communications • Senior Internal Communications Manager • Senior Internal Communications Executive • Three PR Managers • Senior PR Executive The team is based in London and Birmingham. • Working with the Director of Communications & Brand, create and implement an integrated international communications strategy and plan (to include external and internal communications) • Develop and implement individual communications plans for agreed practice groups and sectors • Act as Communications lead for Eversheds Sutherland International • Lead and manage the Eversheds Sutherland International Communications Team • Build, support and lead extended communications team with the US and EVSEL • Prepare and manage the Communications budget • Manage PR agencies in France, Germany, Middle East and Asia • Support the Director of Communications & Brand with crisis/issues management • Support the Director of Communications & Brand on executive communications Skills and experience: • Significant experience of communications at a senior level within a corporate environment, preferably with experience of the professional or financial services industries • Significant experience of developing and implementing international communications strategies • Significant experience of both media relations and internal communications • Experience of providing executive communications support • Experience of providing high-level crisis/issues management support • Experience of building, leading and managing teams, ideally internationally • Experience of preparing budgets, monitoring expenditure and phasing expenditure across the year Key competencies: • You will be a highly experienced senior communications professional with a demonstrable track record of success • You will have an excellent understanding of all areas of the professional services marketing mix and understand how communications supports and drives revenue growth • You will be a very experienced manager, able to bring teams together and motivate and inspire them • You will be confident working in virtual teams and with colleagues in multiple jurisdictions, and be culturally sensitive and aware • You will have a keen interest in current affairs and will be able to proactively and confidently seek and shape comment from our lawyers in line with news agenda, and understand how to bring that to life for our people through internal communications channels • You will have experience of using internal communications to inspire and engage people, and the imagination and creativity to explore multiple channels to achieve this • You will be an outstanding communicator with superb, journalistic-level writing, editing and proofreading skills • You will need to be able to synthesize complex, technical material and bring it to life for non-technical experts both internally and externally • You will be both persuasive and tenacious with an ability to influence and build consensus • You will support and promote Eversheds Sutherland's core values and act as a brand ambassador for the firm • You will need strong interpersonal skills in order to build relationships and credibility both within the organisation at all levels and with journalists • You will need to be able to work independently and have strong project management skills with an ability to move projects from concept to launch, and the confidence to handle multiple, often competing, deadlines • You will be a skilled problem-solver, able to think and react quickly, analytically and creatively in a dynamic business environment Applications must be received no later than Friday 8 September.
